In an increasing trend that took off in 2008 , a latest shoe-hurling incident took place when a man heaved a shoe at "Israel's" Supreme Court president on Wednesday, hitting her in the head and knocking her over during proceedings, officials said.

The shoe hit judge Dorit Beinisch, 67, on the forehead and nose, breaking her glasses public radio reported.

"The blow was so strong that she simply fell off her chair. It looked like she had lost her consciousness." Tikkun Olam organization spokesman, Shai Meir said -who was attending a petition filed by the organization.

Beinish returned to the session an hour an a half later after receiving treatment in her chambers and calmed everyone by saying "everything is alright."

A man in his fifties stood up during the session and hurled a pair of sneakers, yelling "corrupt" and "rotten," the radio said.

Bailiffs seized the man, who apparently felt wronged by a court decision, media said.
In the best-known such incident, Iraqi journalist Muntathar Al Zaidi threw two shoes at then U.S. president George W. Bush on December 14, 2008, during his farewell visit to Baghdad. He missed in both cases.
