Ghazi Aridi, Minister of Public Works and Transportation, declared in a press conference that there is a positive progress in the search for bodies, the black box and consequently the plane.

After coordination over all steps among all sides, Aridi stated they were able to locate parts of the plane and demonstrated photographs that have been captured earlier this morning.

"The result is positive. However we can't deal with it with hastiness", Aridi said.

"Any single mistake could lead to tampering with evidence that could affect the committee's judgment." He added.

Aridi said that the working team needs time as the work is very delicate, but highlighted that the most important thing is that we have reached an advanced stage.

Meanwhile, Aridi said that Syrian authorities informed him that another part of the plane was found on the Latakia beachfront. It will be handed over on Monday.

An agreement was made between the command of the ship Ocean Alert and Lebanese Army command to send scuba divers from the Army to retrieve the black box once it is located.

The plane, a Boeing 737, was carrying 90 passengers and crew on its way to Addis Ababa and went down on Monday, January 25 2010 at about 2:30 a.m. local time in stormy weather.
