Egypt detonates Rafah tunnel to Gaza

Egyptian security forces detonated a tunnel on the Gaza-Egypt border in Rafah on Tuesday.
The move comes as Egypt scrambles to control its border with Gaza, cutting off vital supplies while manipulating the official flow of people and goods in and out of the strip. Egypt has recently recently located and detonated several tunnels across its borders with Gaza.
The tunnels became Gaza's main source of goods and food stuffs after Egypt choked border movements and "Israel" besieged the strip in light of Hamas' landslide victory in the parliamentary elections in 2006.
Egypt is currently constructing its Iron wall on the border with Gaza. The wall will be supervised and financially sponsored by the United States. The wall eliminates any possibility of tunnel-building under the borders, the outcome of which would be to "Israel's" benefit as it would bring the already suffering strip to its knees.
The wall is planned to be 9 to 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) long, and will go as deep as 20 to 30 meters into the ground, Haaretz reported. It would be assembled using huge metal slates that would prevent anyone from cutting through it or melting any of its sections.
