Fayyad: Resistance Does Not Seek War, But not Fearful of One
Local Editor, 18-02-2010
Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Ali Fayyad described Hizbullah Secretary General's speech as "historical and crucial" as it clearly interpreted the result and outcome post the 2006 July war.
During a political assembly in Tyr (South Lebanon), Fayyad said that if some wondered in the past about the results of the July War, the answer lies in the speech of Secretary General H.E. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
"Those who wonder about the outcome of the July war can find the answer to their questioning the Speech of Secretary General which included unprecedented strategic equations in the Arab-"Israeli" conflict." Fayyad said.
"The Resistance established a deterrence power which became a reality supported by concrete strength measures as well as a speech that contains confrontation equations that were proved true and came into action. As for defense, it is the reaction of the resistance in face of any war or military adventure on Lebanon which consists of surprises in equipment and method that the resistance keeps veiled" He added.
Fayyad also saw that the deterrence role of the resistance indeed reduces the possibility of war, and that despite this role; the "Israeli" enemy would have turned Lebanon and the region into a field of ongoing wars and fiery confrontations.
"From this perspective, the resistance bolsters stability and reconstruction rather than threaten them," he said.
Fayyad called for studying some of the major stances included in Sayyed Nasralla's Speech. "The resistance is not seeking war, but is not fearful of one either. In fact, the resistance is at its utmost readiness in case it [Israel] launches a war" he added.
Fayyad highlighted that Lebanon's strength emanated from the unity and solidarity of its citizens. He said the role played by the resistance drove away the instances of a war breaking up with "Israel".
