Jumblatt: The Resistance Arms in Lebanon is an "Arab and Islamic" Strength Point

Head of the "Democratic Gathering" MP Walid Jumblatt clarified that he decided to move on and turn a new page, highlighting that the relation between Lebanon and Syria is bound to political geography, the Ta'ef agreement, and the common Lebanese and Syrian struggle."

He acknowledged in an interview with the "As-sharq Al Awsat" newspaper, that at the beginning, some supporters of this relation had rejection to the idea, but later on things changed. He asked those supporters, especially the "Druze" ones to realize that the "A Lebanese idea is limited, and could lead to isolation."

Jumblatt also assured that he cannot adopt the idea that "the resistance arms is a threat to Lebanon,"

He considered that the "Arab Initiative" is meaningless without balance of forces, referring to the resistance weapons in Lebanon as an "Arab and Islamic" strength point."

Jumblatt pointed out that the "Syria smuggling Scud missiles to Hizbullah" issue is propaganda to strike Lebanon and Syria, saying that he "expects a strike anytime because "Israel" is a state of aggression."

Jumblatt denounced referring to the resistance weapons as Iranian, greeting the Iranian role, "as Iran carried the Palestinian flag."
He also greeted the positive new role turkey plays in the region.
