Lebanese Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berri, said his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri was accomplished with honesty and positivity.

Speaking to As-Safir newspaper, Berri referred that he explained his stance to PM Hariri concerning the security convention, stressing on the importance of re-discussing it in the cabinet.

According to Speaker Berri, "Lebanese President Michel Suleiman must be the one concerned with following up with this issue, for this convention represents a trespass over the powers of the Presidency".

Berri added that in case the issue was managed in the right way through the parliament, then it would take part in doing what ever is suitable in this situation.

Former US Ambassador to Lebanon, Jeffrey Feltman, and Internal Security Forces (ISF) Director General Major General Ashraf Rifi, signed the security convention on October 5, 2007, under the Saniora government.

The convention was not handed out to the parliament to be checked and signed, but instead was given approval by the Lebanese government four days after it was signed.
