Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said he is annoyed of the vote taken by the Lebanese Ambassador to the UN regarding abstaining sanctions on Iran, even though the council of ministers' votes were equal.

In an interview with Lebanese Annahar newspaper, Berri indicated, "I still insist on the position I announced at Baabda palace that Lebanon should have voted against sanctions on Iran that is a friendly country and have stood next to Lebanon."

"The voting of the ministers was similar to a no decision," he said.

"I wonder why it turned out to be an abstention," he added.

Regarding the two countries that voted against sanctions, Berri praised Turkey and Brazil saying, "Once again Turkey proved that it is a strong and friendly country that respects its choices."

"Brazil also did not malfunction in this field," he added.
Later, after talks with President Michel Suleiman in Baabda on Wednesday, Berri stated that not voting like "Turkey" was tantamount to supporting "Israel".
