MP Moussawi: Possible Claim against US Administration on Distorting Hizbullah Image and Spread of Cluster Munitions
Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Nawwaf Moussawi -in a Press conference on Tuesday, called upon the US embassy to prove its "transparency" on funds paid to Lebanese entities and present a full-name list of all those who received financial aid from the US government ( stressing the importance of providing the real and full names).
"I demand the US Embassy (in Beirut) to reveal the full names of all those who received aids from the US government in case it wants to prove its transparency and fears nothing," Moussawi stated in the conference he held in the parliament.
He added that the US should not hide behind "crumbs and bits of cash" that were spent on municipalities while ignoring $ 500 million that were spent in Lebanon and paid to different parties in return for distorting the image of Hizbullah.
Hizbullah MP continued that Hizbullah is discussing the possibility of filing a claim before Lebanese judiciary, based upon Feltman's testimony as it is a confession to violating Lebanese sovereignty and Lebanese National Security, adding that "Hizbullah is also discussing the possibility of filing a claim against those parties that received US funds to disfigure Hizbullah's image."
Moreover, Moussawi referred to the four million cluster bombs that sit on Lebanese territory and questioned the US government if it had provided "Israel" with this cluster munitions that was dispersed on Lebanese land during the 2006 war, which will also possibly be taken to international criminal court. "As a Lebanese citizen as well as a parliament member, I question the US government - which I am sure will not give an explicit answer- if it had delivered these munitions to "Israel"."
In this context, Moussawi mentioned that a former US senator had earlier posed this same question three times ( during the period from 2006 until 2008) to Foreign minister then Condoleezza Rice and the answer he received was "we are still carrying investigations on this issue."
Moussawi asserted that Feltman's statements stirred up public and official attention especially as it was put on the dialogue table, highlighting that Hizbullah will follow up on this issue all the way to the end since it exposes the US administration's attempts of sowing incitement among the Lebanese.
This comes in action against US breaching of Lebanon's sovereignty as Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman uncovered that many entities in Lebanon have received funds from the US in return for distorting Hizbullah's image in a Senate hearing on Hizbullah Strength Assessment on the 8th of June and as US embassy spokesperson in Beirut confirmed some Lebanese media received funds to tarnish Hizbullah image.
