Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc member MP Ali Fayyad said in a statement to Al Nahar newspaper yesterday that "the UNIFIL forces were not accompanied by Lebanese army patrols (as stipulated in UN Security Council Resolution 1701)."

Fayyad said the UNIFIL forces conducted military maneuvers and exercises in multiple villages in South Lebanon, which surprised the villagers as the forces spread intensely into the quarters of the villages.

This act provoked the residents of the villages, especially that only two days ago, the Interim Forces set a blind eye to the "Israeli" violation that took place when "Israeli" forces kidnapped a shepherd from inside the Lebanese territories and assaulted him brutally, in addition to its silence against all the other "Israeli" violations and aggressions taking place on daily basis.

Fayyad highlighted that the UNIFIL forces and its vehicles inside the Lebanese villages was intensive and unusual, an infringement to the resolution 1701, which looked as if its mission was to target the Lebanese civilians rather than "Israeli" violations.

Fayyad recalled that "the southerners, who spontaneously protested on Tuesday against the UNIFIL exercises that began on Monday night, are always keen on having positive relations with the UNIFIL forces as its role is to help Lebanon safeguard its security and sovereignty and stand in the face of the enemy's exacerbating aggressions and violations."
