In a chat with the presidential palace correspondents, Lebanese President Michel Suleiman on Wednesday said "Israeli" aggressions and threats against Lebanon aim at separating Lebanese people.

Suleiman also said that spying against one's own country is deplorable and spies must be harshly punished. "Judiciary will be strict in that respect for spying is a violation to Resolution 1701, and if death sentence was issued against spies or traitors, I shall sign it."

On a different note Suleiman reaffirmed his denunciation to the Palestinian settlement. "If the Arab peace initiative fails, peace will not prevail in the region," he uttered.

Moreover Suleiman said Syrian President Bashar Assad is willing to visit Lebanon and the Lebanese-Syrian higher council will be held by the time agreements are arranged.

"Parity exists indeed and Muslims care for Christians' role," Suleiman concluded.
