Raad: UNIFIL Most Welcome to Perform Its Mission under Res. 1701
In an interview with As-Safir newspaper, Head of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Mohammad Raad said that "Hizbullah's position welcomes the presence of UNIFIL in the framework of the force's implementation of its mission under Resolution 1701."
Raad assured that the UNIFIL is not a force with absolute power nor is it a mandate force; it is rather a peacekeeping entity -that acts within the framework of Resolution 1701- and has determined missions and powers that come in context of backing up the Lebanese army.
Raad stressed that "What had happened two days ago (public protests) should not raise political questions about the future of the UN forces, instead, it should readjust the UN forces performance under its missions contained in resolution 1701."
Raad also stressed "The people in the south have proved they can coexist with the UNIFIL force," adding that they are aware of the UNIFIL force missions and therefore do not have a negative stance toward it.
