Military Sources to As-Safir: Cooperation with UNIFIL Depends on Lebanon’s Interests, Resolution 1701
Local Editor
High ranked military sources told Lebanese "As-Safir" newspaper that the Lebanese army will determine the cooperation and coordination with the UNIFIL in accordance with Lebanon's interest and in the frame work of resolution 1701.
Sources stressed that this coordination should not take place in accordance to other countries' interests and policies.
The military sources refused to accuse the Lebanese army of not recruiting the needed troops to South Lebanon, Special Force (15 Alfa), yet it said that the army leadership is responsible for estimating the number of troops that should be recruited and the place it should be deployed in.
"The army then has enough soldiers in south Lebanon, and they're committed to their task without any gaps", the sources concluded.
The Lebanese army has been working hard to achieve resolution 1701, in order to maintain the independence and sovereignty of the Lebanese territories.
