MP Fayyad Refuses UNIFIL Affair Politicized, Stresses on Choice of Resistance

Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc member MP Ali Fayyad, refused underlying political connotations to recent incidents involving UNIFIL peace-keepers and villagers in South Lebanon.

He said that Hizbullah welcomes the reconciliation that took place between the UNIFIL and the southerners, hoping they would turn the page and move on. Fayyad stressed the importance of the army's role as well as the importance of coordinating with it, highlighting that the people are to hold the best relations with the UNIFIL forces serving in South Lebanon.

Touring the Southern Lebanese villages which witnessed the incidents the Deputy put the blame on UNIFIL urging them to abide by resolution 1701 stipulating "Israeli" withdrawal from occupied territories in Ghajar and Sheba'a farms.

Fayyad downplayed any political significance to recent events, and blamed certain politicians for taking sides with UNIFIL against the local people. He said that such stances target the resistance and the unity of the Lebanese people.

As for US president Barack Obama's recent utterances, Fayyad considered these as offensive towards all Muslims and said these are words that serve the "Israeli" entity.

Fayyad pointed out that the only choice remaining is that of the resistance, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive review to all the "compromise offers" that have been presented and of which "Israel" benefits to judaize Al Quds (Jerusalem), occupy more Palestinian lands, and increase its aggressions and threats in all directions.
