Head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt considered that Zionist PM Benjamin Netanyahu successfully diverted American and international interests away from any kind of settlement in the Middle East.

In his weekly interview with Al Anbaa newspaper, Jumblatt said that, "While the midterm elections are getting closer in the US, the same old statement on replacing indirect talks between "Israelis" and the Palestinians with direct talks is portrayed again in the front."

"It seems that this replacement is required to transfer the type of negotiations, while the "Israeli" political stance stays the same, in field of rejecting any kind of halting settlement extension, and establishing an independent Palestinian state," Jumblatt added.

Jumblatt strongly criticized the return of some Lebanese parties' campaigns against the resistance, saying, "As if it is required to deprive Lebanon from its political and military resistance and joining it to "Israel" with a new agreement like the 17th of May agreement.

Jumblatt considered that the UNIFIL in South Lebanon violated, "the sanctity of some regions by going into its neighborhoods and taking pictures."

He added, "Practicing mental terrorism and political duplicity reveal the Western democracy as an empty shell and a fragile image."
