A high-ranked Syrian official warned the Lebanese of falling in the trap set for Lebanon and its resistance again.

Lebanese As Safir newspaper quoted the anonymous official saying, "Damascus is concerned with Lebanon's stability, security, and unity as much as it is concerned with its own security and stability; this is what (Syrian) president Bashar Al Assad continuously reassured during meetings with Lebanese political and official leaderships, especially PM Saad Hariri."

According to As Safir, the Syrian official reassured Damascus's concern of maintaining the resistance in Lebanon and protecting it against efforts of targeting it, that have not stopped in years.

Concerning the international tribunal, the Syrian official restated what Syrian Foreign Minister, Walid Moallem previously said, "If the tribunal was targeting certain parties in Lebanon or Syria or any other place, then the tribunal is politicized and far from reaching the truth.

He also warned of, "any project aiming at stirring up incitements in Lebanon, and from taking advantage of any issue that has malicious goals and serves the "Israeli" enemy in targeting the resistance," adding that, "Damascus is certain about the effective role PM (Saad) Hariri plays in confronting what's being prepared for Lebanon."

The official recalled, "The stage when Syria was accused with late PM Rafiq Hariri's assassination, which later turned out to be a political accusation, which was part of a project aiming at controlling Syria and targeting its regime. However, Syria remained firm, and the project was defeated."
