Lahoud Welcomes Arab Delegation, Karami Hopes for Positive Solutions
Local Editor
As the Arab delegation is landing in Rafik Hariri international airport in Beirut, a group of presidential, ministerial and official delegations are waiting for them for the formal reception.
After the reception, it is expected that the convoy will move to the Baabda Presidential Palace, where the Saudi King Abdallah Bin Abdul Aziz, Syrian President Bashar Assad, and Lebanese President Michel Suleiman will hold discussions.
The trilateral summit is expected to stress on the importance of common Arab role and solidarity, Presidential sources reported.
While this visit was expected for some time, some Lebanese figures felt free in expressing their stances regarding the Saudi-Syrian-Lebanese Summit.
Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud welcomed in a statement published previously, Syrian President Bashar Assad's visit to Lebanon.
The statement included, "He has a special place for Lebanon in his heart which includes all the Lebanese with no exception or discrimination".
According to Lahoud, President Assad adopts the victory of Arab rights, and Lebanese national constants, which illustrated the unity of people, land, army and resistance.
With all high hopes, Lahoud said, "I hope this visit will re-anchor the special Lebanese-Syrian relations".
On the other hand, Former Prime Minister Omar Karami welcomed the awaited visit of Saudi King and Syrian President, hoping that their meeting with the Lebanese President would seek positive solutions and forbid civil strife.
Many expectations are spreading in the light of this historical visit, where all Lebanese, whether officials or citizens, are expecting and hoping for a positive outcome of this one-day Arab summit.
