Al Akhbar: Meeting between Hassan and Ghazali, Basic Role in Hariri’s Shift of Speech

Al Akhbar newspaper considered that the Information Branch Chief Wissam Hassan's visit to Syria where he met with General Rustom Ghazali, had the basic role in PM Saad Hariri's shift of stances within less than 24 hours.

The paper quoted well-informed sources saying, "The Information Branch Chief who came back from Damascus had a phone call with Head of the Liaison and Coordination Unit Wafiq Safa, expressing his desire to promote conciliatory speech."

On its part, Hizbullah responded positively, as Hizbullah Secretary General Political Advisor Hussein Khalil called PM Hariri a few hours later and praised his stance, the paper added.

According to the Lebanese daily, Khalil told PM Hariri during the phone call, "Your speech was good, and we will act upon it and upon (Hizbullah Secretary General) Sayyed Nasrallah's speech."

Among the issues they agreed on, was the resumption of meetings between the two sides, knowing that Hariri will be traveling to Saudi Arabia for Omra (Minor Hajj) and for spending the holiday with his family.

This indicates that Hariri's meeting with Sayyed Nasrallah or his political Advisor would either be today or after the holiday, Al Akhbar pointed out.

In the same context, the newspaper reported that Safa informed Head of the Progressive Socialist Party MP Walid Jumblatt about the latest communications between Hizbullah and Future Movement. In addition, it quoted well-informed sources indicating that among this Political campaign to spread appeasement, Head of the Future Movement Saad Hariri should inform his parliament members about the importance of committing to this appeasement.
