US Embassy in Lebanon Warns Citizens of Ahmadinejad’s Visit
Local Editor
As the US embassy is always worried about its US citizens living in Lebanon, it warned them of the upcoming two-day visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The email reminded US citizens that any peaceful gathering could turn into a violent one, in reference to the popular celebrations expected to take place with Ahmadinejad's arrival.
"The Embassy therefore strongly urges US citizens visiting or residing in Lebanon to remain vigiland, monitor news reports, avoid large gathering or people", the warning read.
And to prove their readiness at all times, the embassy further wrote, "Any disruptions may cause the embassy to restrict planned travel of US Government employees temporarily, which could prevent Embassy officials from providing assistance in affected areas".
