Religious figures and spiritual mentors, who should be symbols of toleration and humanity, are the source of hatred and fundamentalism in the "Democratic Israel". 

According to sources, Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, a major Jewish religious figure in the Shas party has likened non-Jews to donkeys and beasts of burden, saying the main reason for their very existence is to serve Jews.

Rabbi Yosef who enjoys the allegiance of hundreds of thousands of followers, said during a Sabbath homily earlier this week that "the sole purpose of non-Jews is to serve Jews," reported the Jerusalem Post.

"Gentiles were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world-only to serve the People of "Israel,""

He further said that the lives of non-Jews in "Israel" are preserved by God in order to prevent losses to Jews, adding that Non-Jews get a long life to work well for the Jews.

More on racist ideas, the "Israeli" Haaretz reported on Thursday that a leading rabbi encourages IDF soldiers to use Palestinian human shields. 

Rabbi Yitzhak Shapira, a leading rabbi in the West Bank settlement of Yitzhar told students that a soldier should never put himself in danger even for the sake of a civilian, "Your life is more important than that of the enemy" Haaretz quoted him as saying.
