State Minister of administrative affairs Mohammad Fneish assured that "The latest statements of Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffrey Feltman as well as that of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are suspicious."

Fneish added that such an amount of American pressure indicates the US political wagering on the indictment and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, noting that "such action reveals the discomfort of the Americans to any calm situation in Lebanon as well as to the enhancement of Arab-Arab relations."

In an interview with As-Safir newspaper, Fneish stated that the Americans are not concerned about uncovering the truth or even about achieving justice. He said "What really matters to them is how to provide protection to those they find useful to their interests and serve their scheme, the first of which are the "Israelis", and there is no other explanation for such concern and eagerness to us and the tribunal."

State Minister Fneish also pointed out that "anyways, our response is holding tight onto our national unity, and do what serves the interest of the lebanese people, who in their turn should block the way to any American political engagement in the tribunal."
