False Witnesses File Discussion Postponed After the Adha Eid

Following four hours of hot discussions on the false witnesses' issue, the ministerial session that was convened and headed by Lebanese President Michel Suleiman in Baabda palace ended, with a decision to postpone the false witnesses' issue after the Adha eid.
President Suleiman refused to resort to voting as the opposition ministers had demanded.
Instead, Suleiman suggested forming a parliamentary investigation panel to look into the file while opposition ministers insisted the file should be taken to the Justice council.
Minister of Information Tareq Mitri said following the session, that an ambiance of political conflict rather than discussion dominated the session, noting that a large number of ministers took part in the discussions.
Mitri said that President Suleiman summarized what he wanted to say, stating "I see there is no result from voting on this issue, as it will only deepen the argument and we need to look for a more satisfactory solution."
Mitri also said that a number of issues and new ideas were brought up during the session, and President Suleiman welcomed these ideas, which will be discussed in the coming session, along with the false witnesses' issue.
