Berri: Prince Abdul Aziz Visit to Syria Pivotal to Determine Fate of Lebanese Crisis
Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri expected that "Prince Abdul Aziz's visit to Syria would be pivotal to determine the path that the (Lebanese) crisis will take."
Speaking to the Lebanese daily Assafir, Berri underscored that the Syrian-Saudi contact has been restored as planned following the Adha Holidays. "President Michel Suleiman, Premier Saad Hariri, Hizbullah, and I, are anticipating the results of the new round of consultations." Berri reiterated that the "situation in Lebanon will remain under control, as long as the Syrian-Saudi contact persists."
On the other hand, Speaker Berri said it is unlikely a cabinet session will be held this coming Wednesday, as it will coincide with the visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Teyyip Erdogan to Beirut. In addition, Berri noted that the False Witnesses' issue has reached a "blockage" in light of the different parties clinging to their stances.
As for the "Israeli" withdrawal from the occupied Ghajar, Berri pointed out "Nothing is concrete so far, we will wait to see what will the "Israeli's" do and wait for what the UNIFIL will officially receive from the "Israeli" side.
