Suleiman Starts Fresh Efforts, Talks to Resolve Crisis, Jumblatt Supports Efforts
President Michel Suleiman on Wednesday will start a fresh effort to break the Government deadlock.
Suleiman, according to Beirut newspapers, is to launch a new round of consultations with Lebanese political leaders in a bid to reach consensus on the current crisis.
An-Nahar newspaper said Cabinet is likely to convene "given that contacts between the two political camps did not stop."
Ministerial sources told An-Nahar that Suleiman's efforts are likely to keep up with the Syrian-Saudi initiative.
As-Safir newspaper, for its part, said Suleiman will hold talks with leaders involved in national dialogue to solicit their views on ways out of the current crisis.
It said Suleiman will kick off talks by, Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun and Marada Movement chief Suleiman Franjieh. President Suleiman will also be meeting with head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Mohammad Raad with head of the Phalanges party Amine Jemayel.
As-Safir said Suleiman will resume talks with other Lebanese political leaders in the coming days
On the same note, Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt has said he supported President Michel Suleiman's efforts to activate state institutions.
"We back him in his effort to revive dialogue and hold cabinet meetings," Jumblat told An-Nahar daily during a telephone conversation.
