Berri to Call for an Arab-Islamic Parliaments Assembly Meeting in Beirut to Discuss Christians Situation in the East
Local Editor
According to Lebanese An-Nahar newspaper, Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri will call for holding a meeting for the Arab and Islamic Parliaments Assembly in Beirut, in order to discuss the situation of Christians in the East, especially in the Palestine and Iraq.
Berri referred that this meeting will occur if the exceptional conference held in Abu Dhabi in January does not hold a discussion for this issue.
In an interview with the said Lebanese daily, Speaker Berri confirmed that it is Lebanon's duty to consider was Christians are facing in the East, especially after the "Israeli" announcement that Al Quds (Jerusalem) city will be a capital for all Jews, which means burying the Islamic and Christian presence, and destructing all their religious sanctities.
In this context, Lebanese Speaker believed that Lebanon should act; starting from the Parliament to protect what was left of the Christians in Palestine, in order to help protecting Al Quds (Jerusalem) from all Zionist schemes.
"Had this issue not been enrolled in the Abu Dhabi meeting agenda, I will call for holding an Arab and Islamic Parliaments Assembly meeting in Beirut, so we would call for defending Al Quds (Jerusalem), and protecting out Christian and Islamic sanctities", Berri told An-Nahar daily.
Speaker Nabih Berri also stressed that what is happening in Iraq of massacres are targeting Christians and Muslims, urging the victims to hold on to their country, and prevent being affected by indictment schemes.
