Lebanese sources mentioned that Russia decided to contribute for the first time in funding three teams to remove cluster bombs and mines in the southern Lebanese villages.

The three teams will start their three month campaign by the beginning of the year 2011, to remove the "Israeli" cluster bombs still present in southern Lebanese territories since the July 2006 war.

The sources said that the Russian government had made a $1.5 million deal with the Lebanese government, in order to buy equipments suitable for mine and cluster bomb removal and hand them to the Lebanese army.

The Russian campaign includes training sessions, so that Lebanese specialists will take over the mission after the Russian teams end their three month aid contribution.
