Since the year 1984, the 16th of February has become a day of significance to the resistance and all those reject oppression and tyranny, with every year, more martyrs joining the fleet. Today, 27 years since that day, resistance movements one of which is the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon have changed the equation in the region, and the effect of their victories is only disseminating.
It is the memory of three leaders on this day... and their successor Hizbullah SG Sayyed Nasrallah vows to keep the pledge along with the hundreds of thousands participating, whether in the Sayyed Al Shuhada complex or from their homes, wherever they are.
The complex encompassed the supporters of the resistance as usual, but held another honorable man today, Sami Shehab, who was liberated from Egypt's jails.
In addition to the popular crowds who came to take part in the event were political figures and social personals, also a number of clerics.
In a statement to moqawama.org former MP Zuheir Al Khatib said "This day takes us back to the origin of recalling the resistant soul which broke through the years of defeat the Arab world lived. It is this day that paved the way for the victories we witnessed. Today we renew the pledge to continue the path the martyrs started. The effect of this day and other victories are portrayed in the uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt that aim at uniting and liberating the Ummah as well as protecting its people and riches to build a new Middle East whose pillar is the people and the resistance."
As for Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc Member MP Ghaleb Abu Zeinab, he said "Today highlights the importance of the martyrs and their sacrifices in arriving to this stage we live, the stage of dignity, freedom, independence and uprising. I believe that the resistance today glows only more, because the people who once encompassed the resistance in the different parts of the Arab world have poured into the streets to declare they refuse tyranny against the resistance and refuses any relation with the Zionist enemy."
The wife of one of the three martyr leaders, Sheikh Ragheb Harb told moqawama.org "We are here to participate in this event because the martyrs and leaders have sacrificed for our Ummah, which became a triumphant Ummah. We will never shake hands with not only the Zionist enemy, but with any tyrant in this world. The history repeats itself, injustice is present at all time and place, but what we assure is that whenever and wherever we are, we will follow the teachings of Islam which will lead us to righteousness and victory."
Sheikh Ahmad Qattan on his part pointed out "This day is very significant to us; it proves that the martyrs and their leaders sacrificed their own lives and blood to achieve victory. We await the grand victory which is the liberation of Palestine. These martyrs we commemorate their memory assures we are to follow their lead and renew the pledge to fight the Zionist entity and defend our country in face of any usurper."
Head of Hizbullah Juristic Board Sheikh Mohammad Yazbek told our website "Peace be on the souls of the martyrs, we renew our pledge to continue the path, and tell them their chaste blood bestowed upon the Ummah only more dignity and victory. These martyrs have proven that the rights of the people cannot be defended but with sacrifices."
Also, among the attendees were representatives to the students Committees. Hassan Ashmar, Amal representative said "It is a day of pride to the Islamic and Arab Ummah, and to Lebanon particularly. These leaders taught us to always seek our rights and never let go. We as Lebanese youth will always support the resistance and will always follow their lead."
Also, Hamas representative Ali Younes said "The Palestinian resistance salutes the Islamic resistance of Lebanon as well as all martyrs who fell in the battle of protecting rights. We assure that we will always be to the side of the resistance and be supporters until all rights retrieved."
Lawyer Samar Haj, who like other activists has become a familiar face in the complex, said "It is a great honor for us to live and witness this phase, which includes the uprisings of Tunisia and Egypt. The liberation of Palestine is no longer a dream; it is very possible to take place anytime soon owing to the resistance fighters and their sacrifices."
And so...the martyrdom of leaders builds the strength of the Ummah.
