Wahhab Apologizes for Women’s Hijab Stance: Where Were They When the ’’Israeli’’ Enemy Assaulted Palestinian Women’s
Local Editor
Head of the Unification Party former Minister Wiam Wahhab confirmed that what he had said about the Islamic Women's Hijab (veil) was unintended, and was a slip of his tongue.
He also clarified that what he meant was to urge lifting injustice off the Saudi women, which should not be treaty as commodities, adding that the women represent half of the community, and have supreme humane values.
Wahhab said, "I present a thousand apologies if I had offended for the veiled woman even in Saudi Arabia".
Wiam Wahhab praised all mothers who have given their children for martyrdom, especially Martyr Imad Moghniyeh's mother, who on her part presented three children to sacrifice her country.
"I feel ashamed from these women when I'm said to offend them", Wahhab noted.
In this context, Wahhab referred that tow parties replied to his stance; one team replied from a position defending the Woman, while the other team replied to defend an Arab regime, as if it were the regime of faith, piety, and virtue.
Wahhab added that the regime which offensively addressed him, has previously offended Muslims in Iraq, Palestine and Bahrain, clarifying that no action was adopted against assaults committed.
Furthermore, Wahhab wondered where were those who now defended the Hijab (veil) now, when the "Israeli" enemy assaulted the Hijab of the Women of Palestine, and when the veiled women are injured in Bahrain.
He stated, "Doesn't it bother you that the Bahraini veiled women are thrown in the streets and are being shot at?"
On the Lebanese level, Wahhab believed that the government formation should be quick, also referring to recent talks taking place regarding the government formation, stressing PM-designate Najib Mikati should be helped.
