More Wikileaks Cables on the Conspiracy against Hizbullah

The publishing of Wikileaks cables continues concerning the conspiracy of the March 14 camp during the July 2006 war.

Al Akhbar newspaper published more of the leaks today that reveal the levels of conspiracy against the resistance during the "Israeli" aggression on Lebanon in 2006. The stars of today's leaks are Lebanese Defense minister Elias Murr and Former MP Nassib Lahoud as well as former MP Ghattas Khoury.

The latters had clear stances on their fear from a Hizbullah victory on "Israel" to an extent that some of them blatantly exposed their hopes that "Israel" humiliates Hizbullah.

Lahoud: "Israel" Should Humiliate Hizbullah Military Power

One of the cables published by Al Akhbar newspaper under no. 06BEIRUT2529 said that in the 2nd of August 2006, US ambassador then Jeffrey Feltman met with former MP Nassib Lahoud, who hoped that "Israel" humiliate Hizbullah's military power.

Lahoud, according to the cable, said that the civil infrastructure of Hizbullah was destroyed in the South and the Beirut Southern Suburb but the leadership and the majority of the resistance fighters were able to survive and stay alive. "Despite that, destruction of this infrastructure was quite an accomplishment," Lahoud said.

Also, the former MP suggested that the US cannot blame Hizbullah for the damage that took place in Lebanon, and that the Lebanese arrived to such results. Concerning the reconstruction process after the war, Lahoud said that the US should focus on eliminating feelings of hatred towards it particularly through undertaking the reconstruction process in cooperation with the Lebanese government and by that, steal the spot light from Hizbullah. On another note, Lahoud assured that Gen. Michel Aoun's popularity is deteriorating with time.

Khoury: It is A Must to Convince Hizbullah to Disarm in Southern of Litani River

Another cable under the number 06BEIRUT2625 revelad that on a lunch banquet that brought together Feltman and former MP Ghattas Khoury on the 14th of August 2006, Khoury said the time was not appropriate to corner Hizbullah and demand its full disarmament especially on the first day after the end of the war. He rather said the focus should be ob convincing Hizbullah to disarm in Southern of Litani River.

Lebanese MP Fouad Seniora on his part an in cable no. 06PARIS5014 dated 27 July 2006 assured his support to the implementation of (UNSC) resolution 1559, reiterating the need to disarm Hizbullah.
