Well-informed governmental sources indicated that the new government formation will be within a few days, adding that PM-designate Najib Mikati, in accordance with the constitution, will present a formation for the new government.
According to the same sources, negotiations resulted in having Minister Ziad Baroud keep his position as Interior Minister, especially that he was backed up by the new Maronite Patriarch Beshara Al Rahi.
The new government is also said to be constituted of 30 Ministers, whose names are almost agreed upon, along with their portfolios.
The sources added that what the PM-Designate is concerned with today is to reach a government that includes all Lebanese parties. Furthermore, the sources clarified that nothing would prevent a meeting to be held between Michel Aoun and Najib Mikati.
The Premier, moreover, is conducting parliamentary consultations in accordance with the constitution, and therefore would try to meet what all Parliamentary blocs seek in the government.
Mikati sources affirmed that Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri was following up the consultations, and contributed in lessening all obstacles during the formation negotiations.
