Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani (R) and Lebanese Foreign Minister Ali Shami met in Tehran on March 28, 2011.

Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani said the sweeping regional developments will serve the interests of nations and be detrimental to "Israel".

"The destructive role by the US and the West in [trying to] hijack popular revolutions in the region is doomed to failure," said Larijani in a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Ali Shami in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Monday.

The Lebanese minister deplored the West and the US "interference and plots" against regional countries and Lebanon and voiced his country's support for nations who demand freedom and democracy, Majlis news agency (ICANA) reported.

Shami pointed to domestic developments in Lebanon and said Beirut stands firm on resistance against Tel Aviv, and seeks to liberate the remaining occupied lands of Lebanon and to fight the looting of assets of the Lebanese people.
