Lebanese Officials Praise Assad’s Speech, Express Solidarity with Syrian People

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman express relief regarding the situation in Syria, stressing for his visitors in the Presidential palace, on the importance of stability in Syria, in addition to its positive effects on both the economic and security situation.
Suleiman hoped the situation goes back to normal in order for the reform operation would continue on the right track set on top of the priorities. He reiterated his trust in the Syrian leadership's abilities to overcome what happened.
On another hand, Lebanese PM-designate Najib Mikati made a phone call with Syrian President Bashar Assad on Thursday, in which both sides discussed the latest development in the Middle East.
Mikati praised the Syrian people's reliance on the Assad regime, which does not keep any opportunity for any inciting schemes.
On his part, Head of National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt stated that Syria, along with the whole Arab region, is going through a sensitive and delicate situation that requires a lot of calm reading for all the political developments and changes.
Jumblatt affirmed that all parties should hold huge responsibility of maintaining stability in the region, and avoid being dragged into chaos and division, but should try and meet the Arab peoples' expectations towards freedom, democracy, justice, and others.
In this context, Jumblatt considered that the Syria President Bashar Assad's speech in front of the parliament opens new positive horizons, especially after the Syria leadership adopted decisions to make serious changes for the best of the Syria people's interests.
Jumblatt affirmed that the aforementioned, if tackled, would contribute in attaining Syrian national unity, and internal stability.
In a statement for him on Thursday, MP Walid Jumblatt pointed out that Syria does not need any tutoring in nationality, especially by some suspicious Western figures who in fact seek the defeat and collapse of the Syrian regime.
Jumblatt further expressed solidarity with Syria and its people within this sensitive time period, and hopes it would overcome this situation through their dedication to stability in their country.
