Again, Al Akhbar newspaper started on Tuesday publishing a new series of the scandalous Wikileaks cables related to the financial and armament of the 14 March camp which all pours into the context of pressing and conspiring against Hizbullah in favor of the United States and the Zionist enemy.
The proof to the aforementioned comes in the words of Head of the Lebanese Forces Executive Committee Samir Jaejae, as he was quoted in one of the cables as saying "I have between 7000 and 10000 fighters ready to combat Hizbullah." The batch of cables published by Al Akhbar are also related to the Head of the Socailist Progressive Party Walid Jumblatt, who expressed his fear towards reports indicating that "Saad Hariri's Future Movement is training Sunni militias in Beirut and Tripoli."
According to cable 08BEIRUT642 dated 9 May 2008, Jaejae in a sudden visit to the US embassy stressed the importance of supporting the Prime Minister at the time Fouad Seniora and Head of the Lebanese army then Michel Suleiman. He suggested the deployment of Arab peace-keeping forces in Lebanon, an idea that was first suggested by the Saudis. Jaejae told the former US ambassador in Lebanon Michel Sison that he has "between 7000 and 10000 fighters who are ready to combat Hizbullah," adding that "they might be in need for armament."
According to this cable, Jaejae assured in this particular visit that Hizbullah is trying to pressure (PM) Seniora to resign, saying "Despite the fact that PM Seniora's consultants have been discussing the choice of resignation earlier this morning, but the Prime Minister refuses to take such action," also adding that "Saad who is still strong opposed the Seniora resignation."
In a similar context, Jaejae recommended pressuring KSA, Egypt, Jordan, Tunisia, and other countries that support Lebanon in order to send their troops to Beirut. He also considered that 5000 soldiers are enough to support the Seniora government.
"If the Arab countries send peace-keeping troops, then Hizbullah will find itself trapped and we will achieve victory," Jaejae added.
Asking to speak to the charges d'affaires personnel in private, Jaejae pointed out that what matters is that all pressure the Lebanese Army to fulfill its duty, because in case the Lebanese Army fails in protecting the Christian areas, then he would want to make sure Washington is aware that there exist 7000 to 10000 fighters ready to combat Hizbullah, adding "But we need your support in the armament of those fighters, and in case the airport remains closed, then the supply can arrive through water-land conduits." At night, Jaejae called the charge d'affaires personnel to tell her his spirits are high because he received a call from David Welsch, the US Secretary of State Assistant.
In another cable, Jaejae saw that there is a need for dramatic change in the nature of the security system in Lebanon, noting that the army has failed in protecting the people and demanded that five thousand of his fighters should be armed.
Another cable issued on 4 April 2008 under the number 08BEIRUT490 was published by Al Akhbar on Tuesday related to PSP leader Walid Jumblatt. According to the cable, Jumblatt expressed his worry concerning reports that Saad Hariri's Future movement is training Sunni militias in Beirut and Tripoli, wondering "Why did Seniora remain silent concerning the latest report issued by the Minister of Telecoms Marwan Hamedeh, related to Hizbullah's telecoms network."
Jumblatt expressed his worries before US ambassador Sison, concerning information he received, which says that former head of the (STL) investigation panel Serge Brammertz had failed during the past one and a half years in investigating the major evidence that was revealed by the Internal Security Forces Officer Wissam Eid, who was assassinated only one week after discussing the evidence with STL general prosecutor Danille Bellemare.
Also according to the cables, Jumblatt admitted that Saad Hariri's long absence is not good especially that if it were because of mere trade, adding "The jokes made about Hariri's obedience to Saudi warnings calling on their people to leave Lebanon is a bad sign." Jumblatt whined from the reality of March 14 camp, assuring that they never agreed on one issue or stance in relation to the government or in relation to the national dialogue.
The other issue Jumblatt discussed in the cable was related to Saad Hariri's training to Sunni Militias in Beirut and Tripoli, (around 15000 in Beirut and more than that in Tripoli).
"Hariri's establishment of his own security firm in Beirut and Tripoli proves that "some people" are giving him bad advices, such as Ashraf Rifi, The General Directory of the Internal Security Forces. During a meeting with Jumblatt, Internal Security Forces (ISF) - Information Branch head Colonel Wissam Al Hassan admitted he knew about Hariri's trainings of Future movement members. Al Hassan said he objected such trainings but said the people around Saad Hariri (such as Ashraf Rifi) kept encouraging him to carry on with the trainings.
A note was mentioned in the cables that said "The Jordanians refused to train some personnel from the Internal Security Forces (ISF) to take part in the program to combat sponsored terrorism, simply because they did not want to get involved in training "Saad's Militias". (end of note)
Also, Jumblatt said "Saad's Militias might harshly harm the 14 March forces especially that the "Lebanese Forces" of Jaejae and the marada party of Suleiman Franjieh are simultaneously training their men."
