President Suleiman Chairs Higher Defense Council Meeting, Discusses Practical Plan to Help Lebanese in Ivory Coast

The Higher Defense Council met on Tuesday to address the situation of the Lebanese community in the Ivory Coast amid the civil violence in the country.
The Council's meeting was chaired by Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, in presence of Caretaker PM Saad Hariri, Caretaker Minister Elias Murr, Foreign Minister Ali Shami, and Interior Minister Ziad Baroud.
According to a statement issued, the Higher Defense Council said that a practical plan was discussed in order to help protect the Lebanese people residing in the Ivory Coast from the disrupted situation there.
The statement added, "The plan also deals with ways to evacuate the Lebanese people living in the country in coordination with relevant authorities and the UN".

The Lebanese community in Abidjan has been highly affected by the current violent situation in the African Country. Many Lebanese families are trapped and in danger, where French and UN troops are trying to evacuate them to the French barrack and then have them flee the country.
