Hizbullah, Amal Movement Lift Veil off Construction Violations in Southern Suburb, Urge Government to Carry Out Duties

In light of the spread of random construction violations in the Beirut southern suburb, in addition to the encroachments of public properties; breaches which the Lebanese government accused Hizbullah and Amal Movement of covering up, the latter affirmed they would lift the veil off violators, confirming there will be no protection for anyone facing law under any circumstances.
These remarks came in a meeting held between the leaderships of Hizbullah and Amal Movement in Beirut, in presence of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Ali Ammar, Talal Hatoum, head of the Suburb Municipalities Union Mohammad Khansa, in addition to heads of the Borj Barajneh, Haret Hureikh, and Mraijeh municipalities.
During the meeting, all sides condemned all law violating methods, in particular those related to encroaching public and private properties especially next to the Airport, which would lead to harming both public and private interests.

Furthermore, Hizbullah, Amal Movement, and Municipal representatives called upon the security firms to carry own their duty in preventing such violations, in order to halt them through legal means. They further affirmed that the southern suburb was and will always be welcoming official facilities, especially security firms, to carry out their duty in maintaining security, applying the law, and protecting the interests of the country and its people.

At the end of the meeting, all sides demanded caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ziad Baroud, and all specialized security firms, to adopt measures to deal with the violators. Moreover, they called for the cooperation between municipalities, security forces, and effective political sides to help protect the interests of the Lebanese who deserve all the sacrifices. They also noted the importance of maintaining social security and abiding by the laws and regulations.

On another hand, Head of the Ghoubairi Municipality Mohammad Khansa confirmed that the responsibility lies upon the security forces, expressing regret that the latter are remiss in carrying out their tasks. In this context, Khansa clarified that only one security forces soldier is in service for every 2000 citizens in the Beirut Southern Suburbs.
In an interview with Al Intiqad online newspaper, Khansa indicated that Hizbullah and Amal Movement have withdrew their responsibility regarding construction violations and property encroachments, and called upon security firms to work in a more serious way to stop any of the said violations. Head of Ghoubairi Municipality added that Hizbullah and Amal Movement's attempt to lift the veil off the violators will take part in all Lebanese territories, especially in the south and Bekaa regions.
