Member of Parliament Nawwaf Moussawi said that obstacles hindering the formation of a Lebanese government had been mitigated at the hands of concerned sides who have already delved into the portfolios distribution process.

The Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP held a regular meeting in Dardaghya on Monday with a number of municipality heads in which conferees also tackled a number of developmental municipal-related projects and affairs.

Pursuing resolute efforts is paramount in a bid to crystallize a governmental formula capable of implementing a political agenda robust enough to protect Lebanon from the perils of strife, Moussawi said.

Moussawi pondered whether the US Ambassador's Maura Connelly's visit to Prime Minister-designate Najib Miqati in the wake of resolving the Interior Ministry issue is mere coincidence.

Connelly's visit timing followed by the US Embassy's prepared press release, made the Lebanese realize once again that the US administration strongly opposes the formation of a Miqati-led government, Moussawi said, indicating that even if the US wraps its official statements with diplomatic talk, the Lebanese will not fall for them anymore.

Some western countries do not favor the formation of a Lebanese government because such eventuality simply doesn't serve designs to cordon the Syrian nation, he added.
