The Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri viewed that the Western officials' visits to Lebanon "aim at using our country as a base to overturn". "We recognize that there are attempts to reverse geography and to create tensions with Syria from the north," he emphasized.

During his speech at the International Intellectual Conference to honor the two scolars Mohammed Makki al-Jezeni and Zinedine Aljbai, berri warned that "we must be alert and aware who saved the unity of this country and who destroyed and occupied it many times."

Berri cautioned that foreign intervention in the peoples' movement in the region is seeking to achieve the objectives of war of control they waged through fleets and occupation in both Iraq and Afghanistan. "
