The former President Emile Lahoud considered that "the target today is the resistance and reluctance path in Syria which forms the centerpiece of this line refusing to bow to the dictates imposed by the "Israeli" enemy and its sponsors."

"Syria is not only protecting itself but all the Arabs from humiliation especially after the Mujahideen of the Islamic resistance in Lebanon and the heroes of the national army have drawn Lebanese epics of military victory on the "Israeli" aggression particularly in the 2000 liberation and the defeat of the "Israeli" military machine in July 2006, all due to the Syrian back which does not compromise on the restoration of a national right".

In an interview with "al-Thawra" newspaper, President Lahoud said "since the first day of the outbreak of the Syrian events, we were sure that it is an armed attack on innocent civilians and security forces in the country as well as on the public and private properties of the country."

"They are aiming to destabilize Syria, the closest sister to Lebanon, under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad," clarifying that "they aim at tearing its strengths resembled by its people gathering around its leadership in the face of challenges and conspiracies and incitements being hatched in the dark rooms."

Lahoud warned that "the fire will not affect Syria, but its fragments and flashes will not have any effect on the strength of the Syrian building or on the close relationship that exists between the two brotherly countries."

"It is obvious that what affects Syria affects Lebanon and the repercussions might sometimes be stronger than the earthquakes and "al- shogor" bridge will be a crossing bridge to victorious Syria which the Lebanese are viewing with great hope." He concluded.
