U.S. Ambassador in Lebanon Maura Connelly expressed concern Wednesday about "recent accusations made by Hizbullah against the U.S. mission in Lebanon."
Connelly's remarks came after a meeting with the head of "Reform and Change Bloc" General Michel Aoun.

The U.S. envoy said she had risen with Aoun "concerns regarding accusations made by his coalition partner against the U.S. Embassy."
"We view these accusations as an attempt to deflect attention away from internal tensions in Hizbullah," she claimed.

Describing the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon as a "nest of spies" serving the interests of the Zionist entity in Lebanon, Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah Friday said that the resistance security system had uncovered two spies working for the CIA.
His eminence, Sayyed Nasrallah also said a third Hizbullah member had been identified as having links to foreign intelligence service.

Connelly, who described the meeting as "very interesting," thanked Aoun for seeing her.
The two discussed the new government, formed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati. "I repeated the U.S. decision which is we will judge the new government by its composition, its ministerial statement and the actions it takes," Connelly said.

"And of course I reiterated our expectation that the new government will continue to respect Lebanon's international obligations including those related to [United Nations] Security Council Resolution 1701 and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon," she added.

Connelly also relayed Washington's view "as well that we expect the Syrian regime to engage in meaningful dialogue with its opposition and we support the right of the Syrian people to free expression and we want to see the regime end its suppression of that right."
She also noted the "positive steps taken by the Lebanese authorities to fulfill Lebanon's international obligations to protect Syrian citizens who cross into Lebanon to flee the violence in Syria."
