Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed that stability in South Lebanon is the key to stability in the region, further affirming that Lebanon is committed to resolution 1701 implementation.
During his Saturday visit to South Lebanon, PM Mikati addressed the Lebanese Army commanders and soldiers stationed at the Marjeeyoun barrack. He said, "You are the protectors of the country, and we are depending on you to confront the dangers facing Lebanon, especially the "Israeli" assaults".

After Marjeeyoun, Mikati and his accompanying delegation headed towards the Adayseh border village, where the Lebanese PM stressed before a Lebanese Army checkpoint that his visit to the South is a message of support to the steadfastness of the southern people, the Army, and the resistance.
He also added in presence of the village's figures, "I support you [southerners] and God willing we will become one hand against the Zionist threats, and we shall work to achieve your welfare".

Mikati readdressed the Lebanese Army saying, "This is your land, earn the honor to defend it no matter what the sacrifices were. This people is your family, it is your duty to protect it as each family member protects the other".
"Your government that appreciates your sacrifices admits it was falling short in meeting your needs. Yet I promise you that our [Lebanese] government will work on meeting your needs [...]. Your government will protect the Army and all security apparatuses from any interference", Lebanese PM Mikati affirmed.

PM Mikati mentioned that his visit to the South was also to confirm the government's will to tackle development on the social, health, educational and other levels, promising more visits to the South to follow up the government's planned projects.
PM Najib Mikati was accompanied by Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghoson, and Lebanese Army Commander Jean Qahwaji.

Furthermore, PM Mikati recalled the July war five years ago, when the southern area was subject to a broad Zionist aggression which was confronted by three wills that were illustrated by one.
"The will of the people who decided to remain steady no matter what the sacrifices were. The will of an army that decided to confront the enemy despite its weak potential that was offset by the courage of the soldiers and commanders. The will of the resistance fighters who decided to defend their land and families, therefore they aimed their weapons at the enemy and defeated it", PM Mikati stated.

The Lebanese PM referred to that the 2006 victory resulted in several changes, where the Lebanese Army returned to the south to monitor and take care of the borders after years of absence.
"It is true that the joy was not complete because the Shibaa farms, Kafarshouba hills, and part of the Ghajar village are still under the "Israeli" occupation, but I confirm today, that the government is insistent on working to put an end to the "Israeli" occupation of these Lebanese land, by all legal means possible", PM Mikati reiterated.
