Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud praised in front of his visitors the "completion of the government as well as its momentum in launching work."
According to a statement issued by his press office, Lahoud hoped that the fill of state vacancies would take place according to eligibility, merit and efficiency criteria without other considerations, except for adherence to the principle of equal sharing in the first category posts and their equivalence in this transitional phase of Lebanese political system.
Lahoud stressed "the need to pay regard to absolute priority of social and living issues in government's action, ranging from the implementation of custody laws passed in his period and was affected by the maliciousness freeze policy to Old Age Security, the Mediator Republic Law, and the draft Law of One Health Card."
Noting the importance of freeing the government from the nodes that its opponents want it to fall in, Lahoud gave the examples of "malicious actions, sedition, and the one color government threats that the opposition poses."
On the Syrian issue, Lahoud pointed to the significant change in American discourse, "especially in what was reported about Hillary Clinton's statement in Istanbul that any solution cannot be imposed on Syria from outside and that the Syrian opposition is invited to use peaceful means and that she and her administration are confused with what is happening in Syria."
