Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari stated that his country has decided not to allow a US military presence extension in Iraq following the 2011 deadline.
In a press conference held in Baghdad on Wesdnesday, Minister Zebari affirmed, "The decision is final but the cooperation with the US government will remain as it is and we are going to increase it in coming days".

Furthermore, Press TV correspondent reported that the Iraqi minister added that the US government did not apply for any request to extend its troops present in Iraq. He reiterated that any extension of this kind is not easy because it requires the approval of the Iraqi parliament, Prime Minister and President.

After the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, both sides signed an agreement stating that the deadline of the US military troops' presence in the Iraqi territories would be in December 31, 2011.
However recently, the US has been voicing desires that it tends to extend its presence in the occupied territories.
