Egypt to Try Mossad Espionage Agent
Egyptian Attorney General announced on Sunday that he has referred a Jordanian and an "Israeli" to court, after they were charged of espionage against Egypt. Egyptian media reported that the indictees were "spying for a foreign country with the purpose of harming Egyptian national interests".
The Jordanian espionage agent, telecommunications engineer Bashar Ibrahim Abu Zeid, was arrested in Egypt last April and will be tried later this year, while Ofir Herari, who is believed to be a Mossad officer, will be tried in absentia.
Furthermore, Sources revealed that Herari had tasked Abu Zeid with recruiting telecoms experts in Egypt, who would help in tracking local Egyptian telephone calls.
After the identities of the Mossad espionage agents were revealed, the case was referred to the National Security Emergency Court, without any exact date to when the trials would begin.
Egypt has always been a place to be breached for "Israeli" Mossad agents to be installed. For example last June, the Egyptian authorities arrested Ilan Grapel, an American-"Israeli" accused of Mossad espionage. Grapel was charged of spying for "Israel", citing Egyptians to clash with armed forces, causing violent protests, and triggering internal divisions.
