The Qatari emir Hamad al-Thani ended a few hours visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Al-Thani held talks with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and attended a dinner party organized by his counterpart.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the visiting Qatari emir "the region must resolve issues on its own," saying Western "interference would complicate the situation."

The presidency website reported Friday that Nejad emphasized that "the interference of foreigners and domineering powers in the regional countries' internal affairs would complicate the situation and make it more difficult."

Hamad, for his part, said "those who cannot meet the demands of their people and resolve their issues through understanding... are pushing their country and nation as well as the region towards insecurity," the website reported.

Meanwhile, Islamic Republic of Iran ambassador to Qatar, Abdollah Sohrabi informed IRNA that the visit of Qatari Emir is part of Qatar's "Ramadan diplomacy which aims to further expand relations between Tehran and Doha."

"Cordial ties between Iran and Qatar have been effective in solving various problems facing the Islamic and regional countries and can serve as a role model for other Islamic states," he said.
