Ahmadinejad Condemns Western Interference in Syria, Says Issue to be Resolved Domestically
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad insisted that the ongoing Western interference in Syria aims at salvaging the "Israeli" enemy and enhancing the West's interests in the region.
In an interview with Portuguese RTP channel on Wednesday, President Ahmadinejad stated, "Today, US President [Barak Obama] threatens Syria's President [Bashar al-Assad], this is an obvious interference and it is certainly not intended for helping the Syria people".
In this context, Ahmadinejad affirmed that such threats aim at protecting the Zionist entity and the interests of the US in the Middle East.
"Regional nations can assist the Syria people and government in the implementation of essential reforms and the resolution of their problems", President Ahmadinejad reiterated.
Iranian President's comments came in light of the recent US-EU campaign against Damascus, where diplomatic interference was taking place.
On this level, Ahmadinejad reaffirmed that the Syrian affairs and disputes should be resolved domestically, without any foreign interferences.
"Governments and nations must resolve their problems through negotiations, and other [countries] have no right to interfere in their internal affairs", President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad clarified.
Moreover, concerning the situation in Libya, Ahmadinejad noted that the main reason behind the NATO's attacks was that "certain Western countries that are undergoing economic troubles plan on destroying Libya's infrastructures to take over control of its oil reserves".
Furthermore, he stressed that the UN Security Council committed a big mistake in neglecting the Libyan situation, in order to serve the interests of the colonialist countries.
