Iranian Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaee filed a complaint to the UN over a warning from French President Nicolas Sarkozy, in which the latter said that Iran's military and nuclear ambitions represent a threat that may lead to attack against Iranian sites.

Ambassador Khazaee stated in the letter that his country would not hesitate in hitting back and defending its lands from any foreign strike on its soils. He affirmed, "Iran would take appropriate measures to protect itself".
Regarding Sarkozy's remarks, Khazaee noted, "The Islamic Republic of Iran expresses its deep concern over, and strong condemnation of such provocative, unwarranted and irresponsible statement against Iran".

Sarkozy's comments came as part of the Western campaign against Iran and its nuclear program, claiming that Iran is seeking nuclear weapons production.
In this context, the Iranian Ambassador to the UN further denied the accusation that his country was seeking a nuclear weapon.
"Iran is a leading nation in rejecting and opposing all kinds of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons. [...] I wish to reiterate my government's position that the Islamic Republic of Iran has no intention to attack any other nations", he reiterated.

US has launched a campaign against Iran over its nuclear program, leading rounds of sanctions on the Islamic Republic, including economic sanctions imposed on countries dealing with Iran.
Iran, a signatory in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, has strictly confirmed that its nuclear program is peaceful, and exploited only for domestic development.
