Turkey stated that its warships will be escorting Future convoys attempting to break the "Israeli" naval blockade of Gaza, an attempt which would raise risk of naval confrontation between "Israel" and Turkey.

The Turkish threat was delivered by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyeb Erdogan, at the time when his country is addressing "Israel" with the most serious diplomatic ties rift, after "Israel" refused to apologize over the attack on the Turkish Gaza-bound flotilla.

"At the moment, there is no doubt that the Turkish military ships' primary duty is to protect [Turkish] ships", PM Erdogan affirmed to al-Jazeera TV on Thursday.
He also added, "We will be delivering humanitarian aid. This aid will no longer be subjected to any kind of attack as the Mavi Marmara was".

After "Israel" refused for several times to apologize from Turkey over the attack on the Mavi Marmara, Ankara decided to launch a series of sanctions against "Israel"; where it cut diplomatic ties, expelled the "Israeli" ambassador and suspended the military cooperation between both sides.
