As all Palestinians agreed on burying two decades of the so-called "peace process" in the grave yard of international hypocrisy of justice, what was left of Palestinian land was proposed for a UN membership.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas handed Friday UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon an official application for full UN membership on Friday.

Waving a copy of the request, Abbas said he had submitted an "application for the admission of Palestine on the basis of the June 4, 1967 borders with al-Quds as its
capital."

"Negotiations with "Israel" will be meaningless as long as it continues building on lands the Palestinians claim for that state," he declared mentioning that "this policy is responsible for the continued failure of the successive international attempts to salvage the peace process."

The UN Security Council will take up the Palestinian bid for full statehood and UN membership on Monday.

Lebanese Council President Nawaf Salam informed reporters that the 15-member council would begin discussions Monday to take up the application submitted earlier Friday by Abbas to the UN Secretary General.

Ban passed the document hours later to the council, whose approval is needed for UN membership and full recognition of statehood.

Earlier this week, US President Barack Obama has warned that his country would exercise its UN veto power to prevent a Palestinian state being declared by the 15-member Security Council.

For his part, "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the General Assembly shortly after the Palestinian leader, claimed that "Israel" was willing to make painful compromises.

Stating that settlements were not the main obstacle to peace, Netanyahu said that "the core of the conflict is not the settlements; the settlements are a result of the conflict. The core of the conflict is the refusal of the Palestinians to recognize a Jewish state in any border."

Referring to Palestinian leadership, "Israeli" PM said "recognize the Jewish state and make peace with us."

"Here's what's happening right now, today. Hizbullah-controlled Lebanon now presides over the UN Security Council. This means, in effect, that a terror organization presides over the body entrusted with guaranteeing the world's security," Netanyahu continues in his claims.
