Ahmadinejad: Iran, Neighboring Countries Can Guarantee Regional Security

At a press conference on the sidelines of the 66th annual session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that Iran and its neighboring regional countries are able to maintain security in the Persian Gulf, according to IRNA.

In this context, Ahmadinejad clarified that if the US, Britain, and NATO forces withdraw their forces from the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, then Iran and the regional counties would "guarantee" security in the region.
Furthermore he added, "Iran has always respected other nations' rights", further noting that such rights cannot be recognized in light of NATO bombs and foreign interferences.

On another hand, Iranian President indicated that the Palestinians have the right to attain an independent state, further affirming that Palestine has always existed, and the "bid for statehood at the UN shouldn't be considered as a bid to set up a new state".
