Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu stressed on Thursday that his country strictly criticized the "Israeli" plan to construct 1,100 new settlement units in the Gilo settlement in East al-Quds (Jerusalem), affirming that this stands as "a flagrant violation of international law", the Army Radio reported.

According to Haaretz, Davutoglu was quoted as saying, "The plan raises doubt about "Israel's" sincerity and true intention to solve the conflict".
In this context, he further added that the ongoing "Israeli" settlement construction proved that the Palestinian bid to gain statehood at the UN was both "justifies and timely".

Furthermore, the US, Europe, and Arab states have condemned the new settlement activities and said they complicated the so-called efforts to renew peace talks.
