MP Michel Aoun: All I care about is the interests of the Lebanese
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 14-1-2008
MP Michel Aoun, head of the Free Patriotic Movement, said in a press conference after the Change and Reform bloc's weekly meeting that the opposition is not afraid of war.
"No one can threaten us or try to scare us, for there is no bigger war than the July War," Aoun told reporters.
He also said that attempts at dialogue in Lebanon have been resulting in disasters.
"The first national-dialogue roundtable brought the July War, the second roundtable brought the Special Tribunal, and God knows what a third one will bring," he said.
Aoun reiterated the call for a constitutional amendment that results in the election of the president by the people.
"After that, we will no longer ask for the obstructing one- or two-third vote," he said.
He also said that he did not care about his personal position. "All I care about is the interests of the Lebanese."
The FPM leader noted that the opposition is dealing with people who "change their stances three times per day."
"This is why we are calling for a written understanding," he added.
"Misinformation is the master of the situation, and our accusations are against all those who are acting freely," Aoun said.
